A Touch of Marble

Hey there,

It seems like marble effect products are everywhere these days and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t kind of love the trend! While in Edinburgh, we wandered into TK Maxx to have a look around. I just want to say that the TK Maxx at home is no comparison to Edinburgh’s! Everything was so organised and actually had its own place! While we were looking round the makeup/home section of the store, I noticed this little brush holder and I instantly fell in love with it!

The pattern is White Marble with some grey specs, which fits in very well with my room. I also love how they have matched the base with the gold bars and ring to keep the brushes in place! It holds quite a few brushes which is always a benefit as I like to keep all my brushes in the one place!

I picked this up for £4.99 which was not bad at all in my opinion! I’m not too sure what brand this little holder is, but I would love to see their other products! You can expect to see this appearing in many blog posts from now on!

That’s it for this post, thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed it 🙂

OOTD | Edinburgh

Hey there,

As my normal day consists of going to uni and coming home again, I normally don’t get too dressed up so I try to make more of an effort on days where I’m actually doing something! This was no different when we were in Edinburgh! For today’s post I wanted to show you the outfits that I decided on for our short break!

So let’s go 🙂

Day 1:

Normally I wouldn’t dream of wearing jeans on a flight as you generally want to be comfy, even if its only a very short flight, however as we couldn’t check in to our hotel until 2pm, I didn’t want to waste this outfit on the few hours of daylight we would have left. I really like this outfit because it is quite different for me but definitely one I plan to recreate a lot in the future! Khaki green is normally not a colour I would wear too often but when I saw this long sleeve, tight-fitting jumper in Topshop, I decided I would give it a go and I’m so glad I did! I matched the jumper with some Mom Jeans from Primark and a simple Gold-Buckled belt also from Primark and my new Old Skool Vans, which I am absolutely in love with! (Expect these to be appearing in my posts a lot from now on!) As Edinburgh is quite cold, you definitely need a jacket wherever you go so I put my oversized Black Denim Borg Jacket from Asos which I am also obsessed with! (I got it for half price in the boxing-day sale so it was a bargain!)

Day 2:

I have a love/hate relationships with skirts, sometimes I think they can really work and sometimes I think they just really don’t (on me anyway!). I thought I would take one with me anyway and I’m so glad I did! I picked up this top a while ago from Matalan after seeing another blogger wear it and falling in love with it (it was reduced to £8 which is amazing!). I haven’t had any Cold-Shouldered tops before and now I love them. This one has a lovely lace pattern with details around the collar and shoulders! I matched this top with my Denim Mini Skirt from Primark and the Gold-Buckled belt from Primark as well! As I was going to be walking a lot, I figured heeled boots probably weren’t the best idea so I decided to stick with my Vans! Once again, I completed the look with my Asos Jacket (I’m obsessed what can I say?!) and of course my Mustard Bobble Hat that I picked up in Primark last year!

Day 3:

As we were flying home on the third day, I decided it was best to wear a heavy jumper because in my experience, airplanes can be very cold places! This jumper I picked up in H&M for only €10 is one of the warmest jumpers I own, it is made from a really thick material! Once again I paired it with my Mom Jeans and Belt from Primark and my Vans and of course the Asos jacket!

That’s it for this post, thank you for reading 🙂 I hope you like these outfits, let me know if you have a favourite OOTD of your own! 🙂

Hey there,

If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you will probably have seen that I was in Edinburgh for a few days during last week. I’ve heard so many great reports about Edinburgh and for quite some time now, its a place I’ve really wanted to go, so back in November, myself along with my friend Seana decided we would book it for over the Christmas holidays!

Unfortunately while we were there the weather was mainly overcast but coming from Ireland we’re used to this anyway, so it didn’t bother us that much! We got up super early on Wednesday morning (it was midnight, so not even the morning) and began our journey to Edinburgh! By the time we got into the city itself, it was around 10am so we stopped in a little café called Papii for some breakfast. As we were still dragging our cases round with us, we didn’t want to venture too far so we had a look around the shops until 2pm when we checked into our hotel! After we dropped our bags at the hotel we started to explore Edinburgh a bit more, admiring all the cute little streets and of course the Castle that sits looking over the whole city!

The next day we started by going to The Elephant House Café where we had the Margarita Pizza (it was the cheesiest pizza I’ve ever had…it was great!). If you have been reading my blog a while you will know I’m a massive Harry Potter fan and the Elephant House was one of the places I wanted to see most in Edinburgh as it’s where J.K.Rowling sat once upon a time to write Harry Potter. I can really see where she got her inspiration in Edinburgh with the Castle towering over the city and the quaint streets! It’s amazing to see how many people have visited the little café; when you go into the bathroom it is completely covered with messages thanking J.K.Rowling for writing Harry Potter!

After we left the café, we went down the street to the graveyard where Greyfriars Bobby once stayed and from there onto the castle. On our way to the castle we stopped in a little shop to get Deep Fried Mars Bars! I have heard a lot of different reports on these bars but in my experience I actually quite liked it even thought I thought it definitely wouldn’t be my thing! Then we found ourselves on Victoria Street aka the inspiration for Diagon Alley and I just have to say, it is one of the prettiest streets I have ever seen with the contrast between brightly coloured shops and traditional old buildings! Then we found our way to the Castle. The view from every direction of the castle is just breathtaking! Even though it was quite overcast on the day we went, we could still see for miles in every direction!

Later that night we went on a walk to Calton Hill, one of the best viewpoints in the city! Even though it was night time, the castle still was prominent as well as the other beautiful architecture throughout the city!

The next day we went to a little café called Hula to get some lunch and from there we wandered over into the Grassmarkets where we got some more amazing pictures of the castle from a different view! As we didn’t have too much time left before we needed to go to the airport, we took a walk around the part of the city we hadn’t already been to before collecting our bags from the hotel and making our way to the airport!

As a city, I loved Edinburgh and I can definitely see myself going back! If you are looking for somewhere to go for a short city break I would definitely recommend Edinburgh as there are plenty of sights to see and lots of things to do!

That’s it for this post, thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed 🙂

What I got for Christmas 2017

Hey there,

I’m a little late with this post but after having read so many of these and loved them, I thought I would do my own one! I have read a good few of these posts since Christmas Day and I love them, I don’t really know what is so interesting about seeing what everyone else got for Christmas!

Before I start I just want to say a massive thank you to the family and friends who gave me these gifts, I love them and I am very grateful!

So let’s go 🙂

The first thing I got for Christmas are Old Skool Vans. I know these are one of the most popular shoes at the minute but I love them! I kept thinking of so many different outfits that these shoes would go brilliantly with so I’m delighted that I have them now!

As I do Computer Science at uni, I have to take my laptop in with me nearly every day! Up until now I’ve either had to physically carry my laptop in and out or squash it into a bag that it is obviously too big for. I had been looking at bags that had a laptop compartment inside and were big enough for my laptop and my mum offered to get me one for Christmas so I’m excited to finally have a bag that fits my laptop (nerdy thing to get excited about I know!)

If you know me, one of the things I have wanted the most since I was a little child is a dog! Golden Retrievers and Huskies are my favourite breeds and I have just always loved them. For Christmas this year, my mum got me this Husky teddy as she knows I have wanted a dog since I was born basically. I love this teddy so much as when you have it beside you it is big enough that it feels like a real dog and it is so so soft!

I love the Sims. I have never had the proper PC game until this Christmas and I am loving it so far! It has got to be one of the most addictive games I have ever played but it is just so fun!

Soap & Glory has got to be one of the nicest smelling brands I’ve ever used. I got this bauble filled with Soap & Glory products and I love it! The bauble contains 4 products; Rich & Famous Shower & Body Wash, Smoothie Star Hand Food Hand Cream, Smoothie Star Body Buttercream and Breakfast Scrub Body Scrub. So far I have only used the body wash and it is one of the nicest I have had in a while! I’m excited to use the rest of the products soon!

This next gift is really cute! My mum knows how much I love Harry Potter and she saw this little Hermione Granger figure she couldn’t pass her! I really want to put her in my car but I’m not sure if that would work 😂

I received this present as a little inside joke/tradition. I have many small toy cars and I’m happy to add this one to the collection!

Once again, my mum knows how much I love Harry Potter and she picked up this little shopping bag for me which I’m really excited to bring back to uni with me!

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while you will probably know that Penney’s is my favourite shop and I was so happy to receive a gift voucher for Penney’s this year! I’m so excited to go to the big Penney’s near uni to use this as they definitely have the best selection!

That’s it for this post, thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed it! Once again, I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who gave me these presents! 🙂

Hello 2018!!

Hey there,

For my first blog post of 2018, I just want to look back on 2017 and all the ups and downs and look forward to 2018 and what my goals are for my blog this year 🙂

So let’s go 🙂

2017 wasn’t a bad year for me overall, sure there were parts of it that weren’t great by any means but as a whole I got to travel more and do some pretty cool things so I would say it wasn’t a bad year!

For 2018, I really want to get back to my usual self in terms of a lot of things, mainly with uni work and organisation as I feel that since I left school I have lost some of the motivation I had. As well as uni work, I really want to try and make a go of my blog, so here are some goals that I am setting myself for this year:

2 Posts a Week

I want to be regular with my blog posts and I think that with my normal schedule, 2 posts per week is the max I will be able to do.

No more “blogging breaks”

I know at times its hard to think of content and I did struggle several times in 2017 with content ideas, but this year I’m going to try my hardest to keep on top of blog posts and keep them fresh.

Grow my Social Media

Social Media is a very important part of having a blog and not only that but I genuinely enjoy having my Twitter and Instagram Blog accounts. Especially with Instagram, I want to try and get a “theme” or a more aesthetically pleasing feed as I love looking at other peoples versions of these!

Enjoy Blogging

I think when you start to look at a blog as just a reason to get money or become “famous” it takes the fun out of it! Neither of these things have ever been my goal for this blog, I started it out of curiosity and ended up loving it and I want to make sure this year that I continue to love it!

That’s it for this post, thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed reading about my plans for 2018, let me know if you have any goals for this year! 🙂

Blogmas Day 23 | Christmas Makeup Look

Hey there,

For Day 23 of Blogmas I wanted to do a little Christmas Makeup look. I love bronze and natural tones for my eyes rather than bold colours but for this look I went quite bold with the lip colour!

So let’s go 🙂

The finished look has quite brown/bronze eyes and a bright red lip. I attempted eyeliner for this look and I’m quite happy with how it turned out, even though my eyeliner skills are not great!

To create this look I used the following products:

L’Oréal Infallible Foundation | MUA Cover & Conceal  | Rimmel Stay Matte Powder

The shade I use of this foundation is called Porcelain and it is perfect for my skin colour. As I am naturally very pale, I find that a foundation with even the slightest hint of darkness makes me look orange! The MUA Cover & Conceal Concealer in the shade Fair is a great match for this foundation and it has great coverage. Just so I don’t look as pale as normal, for this look I used the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in the shade Warm Beige which is just a little bit darker than my normal shade.

MUA Undress Your Skin

I cannot emphasize enough how much I love this highlighter. The shade I used for this look is Radiant Cashmere and it is definitely one of my favourites. It is slightly more bronze than some of their other highlighters but it really adds shimmer to a look.

Revolution Ultra Brow Kit

Yes I am still going on about this product and how brilliant it is! Ever since I got it this product has been my number one for brows and it probably will be for a long time!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance

If I could recommend one higher end product it would be this one. This palette is definitely worth the money! The eyeshadows are incredibly pigmented and they are very very long lasting. For this look I used the shades Raw Sienna, Golden Ochre and Primavera.

Rimmel Lash Accelerator | NYX Vivid Liquid Liner

I love this mascara and eyeliner combination! The eyeliner is not heavy on the eyelid and once is has dried you wouldn’t even realise it was on! This mascara is my go to at the minute, it adds great volume to your lashes and gives them plenty of definition.

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick

This lipstick is one of my bolder colours that I’m normally too afraid to wear! It’s number 37, shade Rossetto. It is a bright red that is extremely eye catching! I really like this lipstick because it is long lasting and it doesn’t get taken off easily!

That’s it for this post, thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed 🙂 Let me know what makeup looks you love around Christmas time 🙂

I’ll see you tomorrow for Day 24 of Blogmas 🙂
